Day 1: Senaru Village – Senaru Crater Rim
Senaru Village 601m – Senaru Crater Rim 2,641m
The trek begins around 7:30–8:30 AM while the morning air is still cool. From Senaru Village, we start walking through local surroundings filled with coffee, bamboo, cocoa trees, and other plants cultivated by the local community.
After approximately 30 minutes, we reach the entrance of the Rinjani National Park tropical rainforest, where we take a short rest before continuing deeper into the forest.
The rainforest provides shade from the sun, although the humid tropical conditions can make the climb challenging. Along the trail, you will be surrounded by dense vegetation and may occasionally encounter brown or black monkeys in their natural environment.
After approximately three hours of trekking, we reach Position 2 at around 1,500 meters. Here, your dedicated guides and porters will prepare food and refreshments to help restore your energy. You can enjoy soup, fresh fruits such as bananas and pineapples, crackers, and soft drinks while taking a well-deserved break.
After resting, we continue toward Position 3 at approximately 2,000 meters, also known as Mondokan Lokak. Along this section, you will pass local raspberry bushes and areas where monkeys are commonly seen.
As we leave the tropical rainforest, the landscape changes into open savanna and grassy volcanic hillsides. The trail becomes steeper, but the spectacular scenery makes the climb worthwhile. You may enjoy views toward the Indian Ocean and surrounding mountain peaks as we continue through Cemara Lima, a rocky mountain slope, before reaching Pelawangan Senaru.
Finally, we arrive at the Senaru Crater Rim at 2,641 meters after trekking approximately 7 kilometers through rainforest, savanna, and rocky mountain terrain.
From the crater rim, enjoy spectacular views of:
- Segara Anak Lake
- Mount Rinjani Summit at 3,726m
- The Gili Islands
- Mount Agung in Bali
- The new volcanic cone rising from Segara Anak Lake
- Beautiful sunset and sunrise views
While you enjoy the scenery, the Rinjani Travellers guide and porter team will prepare the campsite and serve a delicious and nutritious dinner. Spend the night surrounded by the peaceful atmosphere of Mount Rinjani and enjoy sleeping under the stars.
Day 2: Senaru Crater Rim – Senaru Village
Senaru Crater Rim 2,641m – Senaru Village 601m
Wake up in the morning and enjoy breakfast while watching the sunrise over the surrounding mountains and Segara Anak Lake. Take some time to capture photographs of the spectacular scenery before beginning the descent.
After breakfast, we start our journey back to Senaru Village using the same trail. The descent takes approximately 4–5 hours, including rest stops and a lunch break along the way.
The route takes you once again through the tropical rainforest, giving you another opportunity to appreciate the rich natural environment of Rinjani National Park.
We expect to arrive at the Senaru Trekking Centre at around 1:00 PM, depending on trekking conditions and the pace of the group.
After completing the trek, our private vehicle will be ready to take you to your next destination, including the Gili Islands, Senggigi, Mataram, or Lombok International Airport.
